Yep, it sure is, and if you press Ctrl-g in the terminal window, you get 
a beep!  The question is how to automate it.  For the record, my goal is 
thus:

% some_long_running_process ; beep ;

So that I'll get an audible indication when my task is done (in this 
case, blanking a CD-RW).
