I would like to create a Knoppix that boots and automatically launches Firefox (already configured with as many plug-ins as possible) and that's ALL I want on the ISO.

   Greg, How about trying out Puppy Linux?

The reasons I suggest this are:

* puppy is a mini distro <50 Meg, comes with firefox.
* not hardware intensive.
* You can boot puppy, make all sorts of changes and additions to it, and
then, put a blank CD in the cdrw drive and remaster puppy to the new CD.
The details are very simple, it does all the work.
* the hardware detection is very good, if you had to, you could talk
your parents through a detection session and remaster another CD for
them with those settings.
* It uses Fvwm96 for the window manager, I find this is VERY good for
(ex) W$ users.
