I have two ME-720UF external cases, which I bought from Dealsonic
for $45.94. It has a firewire and usb interface and you stick your
own IDE drive upto 300G into it. I'm happy with both of them. Presumably
when the drive dies, you pop out the dead one out and stick a new
one in. The cases are snap-shut and presumably are not easily
reversible, but I've got mine apart reversibly with a bit of
screwdriver-fu.
