[TriLUG] New motherboard recommendations?

I'm thinking of upgrading my motherboard at home, and wondering if anyone
has recommendations. Considering either AMD64 or a fast Athlon XP. The
main concern is actually RAM: I want to be able to have at least 3G
available, as I tend to run lots of things at once including big stats
runs and vmware.

Advice?
