I second the hobbitmon reference.  I used it in a recent life and
found that it is very extensible.  It can get a little complicated,
but it's not horrible.  The best part is that if you find something
that you want to monitor, it's simple to write a little script for it
and plug it in, assuming that nobody has already done so.  There's a
community download site for BB scripts at http://www.deadcat.net which
you may find rather useful.
