[TriLUG] retrieving tar backups from solaris 8mm drives

Hi,
      I have a cooperator with tar backups on 8mm tapes ( 4-8GB) written
under solaris (Sparc10-20?).  Is there any way of reading these tapes with
tar on an 8mm (4-8GB) drive on a linux-x86 system?
