However, if you are simply talking about UPC bar codes, then
you need to visit the Uniform Code Council's web site. They
have a scheme where the digits are broken into three sections.
There are three parts that make up your 12-digit GTIN
(number provided by the Uniform
you assign to identify your
accuracy of the number)
That means that each company is responsible for their own
"subnet" of UPC code space.
So really, what you're looking for is a database of databases,
since UCC keeps a list of Companies and each company keeps a
list of their own product codes (called GTIN's).
