Jumping in late on this one with my own static shock anecdote:

This past Christmas Eve while I was doing my Christmas shopping, I was 
traipsing around Northgate Mall in Durham, and I got shocked by:
  - a door handle
  - a /wooden/ railing (conductive paint?  I dunno...just a big 
potential difference I guess)
  - and a PLANT.

Freaked me out a bit.  I mean really!  A plant!
