[TriLUG] wireless in ubuntu

Hi folks,

I have had spotty luck getting my laptop's built-in Broadcom wireless
card to work under Ubuntu. With Breezy I installed ndiswrapper and used
the HP windows drivers successfully. When I installed Dapper flight 5,
the installer correctly detected my wireless card (which Breezy didn't
do) but it wouldn't actually work. The "iwconfig eth0 txpower on"
command returns "GET failed on device eth0 ; No such device." When I
use the KDE system configuration interface, it shows the adapter as
disabled; when I click the enable button the adapter changes to enabled
for just a second, then quickly goes back to enabled.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I should proceed?

Thanks,
Matt
