I'm a Debian user.  I've experimented with Ubuntu, but ultimately went
back to Debian.  The nice thing about Ubuntu is it's more cutting
edge than Debian.  It had Xorg before Debian.  I haven't used it
in a server setting but I might guess they would have apache and
php versions newer than Debians.  The one big thing that brought
me back to Debian was Ubuntu made some changes to their version of GCC.
But there were a lot of little things to.  Ubuntu I think is aimed
at the desktop, whereas Debian is the "All things for all people,"
distro.
