[TriLUG] really slow web. help!

I'd suggest checking the round-trip time and packet loss rate to your
ISP's gateway.  Around Christmas, I saw my ISP's gateway go totally
crappy, giving me average >1s round-trip times.  One would expect that
to slow down your DNS as well, but perhaps it's dropping random packets,
or has a very large RTT spread.
