I've never used it, but under "System" > "Administration" there is a
"Shared Folders" item that can be used to set up Samba shares.

There is also a "Share Printers" item under the "Global Settings" menu
of the Printers applet that allows you to share printers, but I believe
it is sharing them via cups and not Samba.

For connecting I use the "Places" > "Connect to Server..." item to
connect to Samba shares all the time and it works great.
