I think another way of looking at it, is that TriLUG is very much a
focused group of Linux professionals. There are folks in the group whose
primary career focus is the implementation of leading edge technology on
Linux. There are people here whose skill is at the level of Kernel
compilation and core OS modification. This groups focus I think (In my
opinion) is more for Technology people who have an interested to learn
more and do more with Linux but do not have the skills to keep up with the
pace of the Trilug group. (At least that is where I fall in) I want to
learn linux in a more hands on practical way and have a desire to do that
at a slower pace. So hopefully the group direction will be part
lecture/part lab (Bring a laptop running Linux and install the
components/tools discussed in the lecture).
So, Lamp might be a 4 month endeavor one meeting devoted to each
I work for a technology company but do very little with Linux on a daily
basis. We have a division in RI that does quite a bit with it and we
market C apps on Linux in the marketplace but I mostly use Windows, So
this is a good opportunity for folks like that. (I hope!)
not to start a flame war but...
my impression of the organization from previous mailing list threads was
that it was Jim's private version of TriLUG since he felt slighted over
not being able to make some presentations to the official LUG.
