Even if an individual app (like OO) doesn't make use of multiple CPUs
(which they almost certainly do - most GUI apps are, or should be,
somewhat multi-threaded), you are going to gain some advantage from
having the many other processes that are running on a desktop PC
(think X, Gnome etc...) that will be spread out over multiple CPUs.
