To: colalug at mail.colalug.org

Hi:

I have already sent this request to various local Freecycle and similar
groups, with limited success. I know that you guys tend to be at least
ankle-deep in obsolete hardware, and thought you might not mind me
asking. I am also in the process of setting them up with National
Christina Foundation as well.

SC SHARE (www.scshare.com), a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit that I am
affiliated with, is looking to set up a small computer lab for teaching
computer skills to people living with the diagnosis of a major mental
illness.

As we move into the 21st century, more and more people with brain
disorders are making great strides in their recovery and are looking to
reenter the work force. However, many of them have been out of
circulation due to their illness for some time now and their computer
skills are either obsolete or lacking completely. SC SHARE is looking to
close some of this gap.

Plans at this point call for setting up a K12LTSP or perhaps an Edubuntu
lab (I have run K12LTSP experimentally in the past). Anything that is
Pentium class or better will suffice for use as terminals, and I could
use some more advanced hardware (pretty much any Pentium 4 with a bunch
of RAM) to build the server. Could also use some 100 Base-T or Gigabit
network gear to tie it all together as well. Oh, and if you happen to
have some flat panel monitors...well, that is perhaps a bit much to ask,
but they don't have a lot of space, so...Tax receipts are available on
request.

SC SHARE is located in West Columbia. I am located in between Lexington
and West Columbia off of US #1. I can pick up most anyplace in the
Columbia area.

Thanks in advance for your help.
-Tom
