This gives me another opportunity to advocate something I've been saying
for years.

Don't trust your ISP's DNS servers.  Run your own!  It's not very hard
at all.  You can completely bypass your ISP's servers.  Or you can set
your DNS servers up to forward DNS requests to your ISP, which is an
easy config line to comment out if your ISP's name servers ever go on
the fritz.

Those who are running their own name servers probably never even noticed
AT&T was having a problem.

I just use my ISP for basic TCP/IP connectivity.  The only server of
theirs that I use is their mail relay, which is an unfortunate necessity
these days.  If it weren't necessary, I would happily bypass that as well.
