[TriLUG] Meaning of kthread and use_mm

I am looking at scheduling flags in linux/sched.h, and I am unsure of the
meaning of this one:

#define PF_BORROWED_MM  0x00400000      /* I am a kthread doing use_mm */

What exactly is a kthread, and what does it mean to "use_mm"?

Would it be reasonable for a cyrus imapd process to ever have this flag set?

Thanks,
Michael
