[TriLUG] Mac vs. Linux, was: Where is Linux today?

I bought a mac simply because its the best of both worlds. You get the command line of a linux machine and the commercial software support that you don't get with a desktop linux distro. I am linux to the core for everything else. I own two linux servers and I use them to run my life. I personally love the mac hardware, you won't find anything like it anywhere else (apple does some bad stuff to ensure that, which I don't agree with but their hardware is great). I am a happy linux/mac user!

Speaking for myself, buying a Mac had nothing to do with striking a blow
against corporate America, and everything to do with a UNIX-based,
non-Vista, corporate-supported, easy to use system.

The price point almost disuaded me from buying it.

But then I'm weird in that I don't generally buy into group-think
activities like "striking a blow" for OR against someone....
