I like Debian.  I've also installed RHEL.  A lot of RHEL.  I think whatever distro you are most comfortable with will work.  Check
out thinkwiki http://www.thinkwiki.org for tips on your model.  If you have the ATI or
NVidia card be sure to download and install their drivers.  
The only other thing you'll have to probaly find the driver
and configure is the wireless card.
