Check out gnucash. They've added a lot of new functions, including 
inventory tracking,P&L, Balance sheets, check writing, etc. I'm not sure 
if it's a true POS, it may be usable for them.

It's also has been ported to the BIG OS for those poor souls that are 
forever darned with it.
