[TriLUG] What is the ATi equivalent of a nVidia GeForce 6800?

the problem with nvidia + ubuntu that I've had is that their binary
drivers do not support xrandr 1.2. So no on-the-fly screen
reconfigurations. Or you can use the open-source driver and get xrandr
-- but no compositing.
