Eh, I don't think it's necessarily that simple.  At a former job, it was 
the general consensus that our slow-to-crawl performance at peak times 
was the fault of the database.  One of our techs had the insight to 
actually look at the infrastructure (with standard tools like top, 
vmstat, iostat, ifconfig, etc.), and realized it wasn't the database at 
all, but our web servers (Apache).

It may very well be your database, but suggest you do your homework 
before just throwing more hardware at what may or may not be your problem.
