[TriLUG] MythTV

This explains a great number of things.

I've been using cards with onboard MPEG2 decoder/encoders to off load
the processing work from the system to the add-on card. This means you
can really cheap out on the CPU and RAM for the MythTV system. But,
obviously, it means all my cards are doing the signal processing on
board well before my software gets to touch the signal.

System performance characteristics really are very dependent on the
card you use for capturing. I suppose I should look around for some
new capture cards. Any suggestions?
