I rode a 10 speed bicycle from Chicago to Oklahoma City in autumn 1972.
of that trip was highway 169 between Kansas City Kansas on the
Kansas/Missouri border and Coffeyville Kansas on the Kansas/Oklahoma
It was a pretty fast trip through Kansas (2 days) because it was so
man, it was boring, boring boring.
I stayed my first night in a public park in Garnett, Kansas, right next
cattlemen's school were the students walked around in brand new, never
dirtied, jeans, boots, hats etc. It was wierd. IIRC it snowed on me in
Coffeyville or the next night (half way between Coffeyville and Tulsa).
