[TriLUG] [OT] motorcycles

I used to ride a Harley soft tail custom and now ride a BMW K75S. It is
old and slow just like me yet outperforms the Harley even with half the
engine displacement (Harley was 1320 cc, BMW is 740 cc) and has a lot
less vibration. Harley is more cool for sound. BMW is more cool for nice
ride.

Now, those crotch rockets will leave me in the dust; however, I like to
ride and generally do not speed...well, not too much.

Mine is a 1991. I paid $3k cash, don't have payment and did not have to
buy collision insurance as the result. Methinks insurance costs $1600/yr
for that new Harley I had and $160/yr for the BMW with liability only.

I have been really well pleased. Whatever you do, be safe. Full face
helmet, jacket, pants, gloves. Do it right or not at all.

I know a few of the folks on the list ride, so this seemed like a good
place to start.

I recently got my motorcycle license, and am now shopping for a bike.

Specifically, I'm looking for a cruiser, touring, or sport-touring
bike. What are the general experiences (good and bad) with regards to
those styles? I'm especially interested in maintenance horror stories
:)

Thanks,
Warren
