[TriLUG] Boot and troubleshooting dist to replace Knoppix?

I've used Knoppix many times as a quick boot-and-fix distro for repairing 
systems.  With the new 6.x versions, Knoppix has removed some of the tools I 
need (smartctl, for one) from the distro.  They apparently are no longer 
developing the 5.x series.

What would you recommend as a replacement distro for rescue/repair/malware 
removal purposes?
