[TriLUG] Classic Microsoft Villiany?

Not to play devil's advocate, but how do we explain Microsoft selling the patents to OIN if Microsoft knew OIN would not do what Microsoft  purportedly wanted, to hassle Linux?  Is Microsoft incompetently evil?
