The issue that I have discovered in this case is the Flash Player.  The one that is provided from Adobe is 32bit and flash sites just don't seem to work for me.  That isn't really a very big deal, but occasionally I run into one of those sites that I would like to visit. I have loaded such things as gnash but the website test doesn't seem to work.  Perhaps I just haven't spent the time working around this problem, but since it is "just for me," it doesn't get allocated much time.
