Unless you go with something like an EPIA mini ITX that only needs 12V,
you are better off using inverter as mentioned by Joe and sold at any of
a number of auto parts or office supply stores. Otherwise, you are going
to run into multiple power supply rails like -12V and 5V as well as 12V
plus a whole lot of connectors.

Laptops work great in cars ;-)
