JOB DESCRIPTION

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including
coordination within network administrators. Interacts with users and
evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware
and software, coordinate installation and provide backup recovery.
Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to
the use of computing resources. Ancillary duties may include setting
up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system
documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide
software and allocating mass storage space.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
*Bachelors degree + 3 years experience is preferred, but 5 years
technical experience in lieu of degree will be considered. 2 years
LINUX experience. 1 year experience in Service Impact Management
and/or Event Management. 1 year experience using any
(Application/Hardware/OS/network/Portal) Monitoring tools and
responding to system alerts.
PREFERRED:
*Experience with EMC Storage Monitoring tools
*Extensive experience in BMC tools; able to manually set up &
configure more than one BMC Monitoring Tool. Alternatively, equivalent
experience in either IBM or HP monitoring tools will be considered;
such as: 1) ProactiveNet, 2) Service Impact (SIM), 3) Event Manager
(BEM/BIM), 4) Patrol Console, 5) Patrol Agent
*Experience with Shell scripting and/or PERL
*Additional experience using or monitoring Solaris systems
