I'm looking for a jr level to master level Unix/Linux sysadmin to help
me at our Syngenta Durham (RTP) location for the next 6 months and
possibly longer.  Large companies can be capricious.  The job is
centered on large data movement/error checking to various data centers
and  we can throw in some other interesting projects based on the
skill level of the applicant.  We will be working through recruiting
agencies, but if you send me your resume, I can send it on to the
recruiter.  Here is a job profile but don't be afraid to apply if your
current skills are limited to a little bash scripting with some
awk/sed thrown in.

Unix/Linux Systems Administrator
Job Description: The Systems Administrator is responsible for
assisting in administration of Unix and Linux High Performance
Computing systems for scientists and bioinformatics specialists. This
includes, but is not limited to, installation and configuration of
hardware, operating systems and commercial and in-house developed
applications.  Administer bare metal and virtual resources; perform
server hardware and software upgrades; monitor server performance and
network connectivity; monitor and resolve assigned customer trouble
tickets. Troubleshoot operating systems, server hardware, network
issues. Maintain relevant and current knowledge within assigned
technical fields.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree from an accredited college in
Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent experience/combined
education, with 3 years of professional experience.

Required Skills: Experience as a systems administrator in a networked
Unix/Linux environment; proficiency in operating system, software and
hardware installation/configuration. Experience with Solaris, Linux
and Windows operating systems, Virtualization using VMWare, KVM, or
Xen.  NAS experience using NFS, CIFS. Strong analytical and trouble
shooting skills. Basic competency with modern compiled languages (C,
C++, Java, etc.). Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, Apache and/or Tomcat
installation; scripting experience in Perl, SH, CSH AWK/SED.

Desired Skills:Sun Grid Engine or HPC cluster experience; Excellent
written and verbal communication skills; experience with cloud or
service infrastructure a plus.
