You saw the information that is most meaningful.  #2 didn't happen
because CM's, although they do have IP addresses, are basically just
bridges - a virtual wire that gets you into TWC's network.  I'm not
familiar with how TWC handles data once it hits their network, but
there are a number of fairly standard architectures that would hide
your first hop/GW.

Just an FYI, I see the same thing with a static IP address on TWC
Business class.
