I'll give you two more reasons to dislike AT&T and U-verse:

1) They* hit a gas line and a water main while laying fiber in my
neighborhood in Carrboro. They then had the temerity to install huge
eye sore "call before digging" posts. A tweet of mine from that day:

2) If you were hoping for sensible, forward-thinking Customer-premises
equipment instead of something as annoying as their DSL equipment...
I'm sorry. IPv6 support? Hah! Symmetric links for residential
customers? Hooo-boy! Just keep on dreamin'.

A disclaimer: the opinions expressed here are purely my own and in no
way related to my employer. Furthermore, the extent of my research on
this consisted of seeing trucks and fiber equipment over the course of
many days, smelling gas on the last day, seeing firetrucks show up,
and talking to the business owner on that corner the next morning over
coffee. An enterprising reporter might talk with the proprietor of
Johnny's in Carrboro** to back up my story.

Cheers,

* More accurately, one or several contractors with unmarked trucks
working for them.
