I highly doubt that router is capped. I used a handful of old WRT54G v1-3 and then hit or miss with 4 5 and 6 as an ad-hoc wireless network. They were capable of delivering 70-80 mpbs plus whatever was going through the air. You can try a later firmware if you want but I still doubt that's the problem.
