[TriLUG] How young is too young for linux-ish training?

This is a great topic. I have a 10 year old daughter that I try to keep
immersed in a fun tech learning environment and I wish I knew of a Linux (or
tech) group for kids in the area. I am sure no matter what path she chooses
for a career, a strong tech savvy background will only enhance it. I had a
great math teacher in middle school who led a computer club after school. It
was a small group and all the kids in there would compete to write the
coolest programs. I had a Commodore 64 and the school had Apple IIc
computers. We started out making math games and screen savers then
eventually made some simple games similar to Pacman and Asteroids. Then I
went about 20 years unplugged with no computer at all. One day I decided to
get back into the computer scene and what I had learned way back then came
back very quickly. It apparently left a lasting impression. Now I tell kids
they are spoiled, we had to make our own video games with spaghetti code
when I was growing up.
