The reason that you have to deal with this has absolutely nothing to
do with the way your service is delivered to you.  It is the way that
the modems are configured.  When a DOCSIS cable modem boots, one of
the configuration parameters it receives from the network in its CM
file is the number of unique MAC addresses it can talk to.  TWC in
this area (and most others as far as I can tell) only allows a single
device by default.
