I've met the System76 folks out here in Denver -- they sometimes attend
the Ubuntu release parties.  They seem like really good folks.  Takeway:
I'm not reporting they're greedy selfish bastards looking to take
adavantage of you :)

A local school I volunteer with bought about 30+ netbooks from them.
Quality is good and no surprises with failures, features not meeting
expectations, etc.

I'd compare older HP Elitebooks and Thinkpads to a Macbook Pro for
comparison.  If you're willing to spend for quality, you can get a
laptop that truly feels like quality when you work with it.  Can't say
that for most high volume, lower-cost items on the market these days.
