I use self-managed linode for my commercial stuff, and hostgator for
less critical stuff, and both have been excellent for me.

webhostingtalk is the best resource for hosting questions, 99% of the
other review sites you'll find on the net are spammy, untrustworthy,
self-serving lowlives. ;-)  Whatever you choose, I'd run a search on it
on webhostingtalk first to check for too many horror stories.
