I did when I had TWC about 8-9 years ago.  There was some nominal fee per 
month for renting theirs, which gets dropped once you give it back and 
tell them you have your own.

As long as you get a properly spec'd cable modem (mine was a Linksys 
BEFSR41), it should just drop in.
