We are an IT Services company seeking a part-time FreeBSD/Linux System/Unix Administrator to assist at one of our client sites in Rocky Mount, NC (about 50 miles east or Raleigh).

This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate. Candidate needs to possess solid Linux/FreeBSD/Unix skills and have very good availability. In return, we will pay a $500/month stipend to just be available and oncall. There may be 1-2 hours scheduled per month, where we will pay $75/hr (in addition to your monthly stipend). All other hours, will be oncall 24x7 in nature, but will be paid at $75/hr. Our client requires 24x7 availability and needs to have tech onsite within 2 hours to Rocky Mount, NC if they are to be called in.  There may also be some additional paid days of training to learn the systems and work with the client’s internal IT team to get up to speed on the solution they’re deploying.

The duration is between 3-6 months but could be longer. This is a great opportunity for a flexible consultant to add some low effort monthly guaranteed revenue, plus an additional hourly income if your services are needed.

Work Details:
Candidate will perform break/fix and troubleshooting of 10 desktops and 6 rackmount FreeBSD servers. On call availability needed 24/7. The job will start approx. May 15th and be ongoing. Guaranteed one (1) two hour visit per month to reboot servers plus any additional on call work (as required). Location is about 50 miles east of Raleigh, NC in Rocky Mount, NC. Other tasks include replacing cooling fans, HDDs, memory, power supplies, and motherboards on the servers and workstations.
