Sorry to reply to my own post, but I have slandered RapidSSL and I want to correct it.

It turns out the majority of my frustration has arisen from an overzealous credit card fraud department that was blocking the transaction. I received an e-mail from RapidSSL with the personal extension of Priscilla who was able to quickly fix my problem once I'd removed the credit card block.
