[TriLUG] Linux on PowerMacs

I have just come into possession of two PowerPC based Macs to play
around with.

The first is a Power Macintosh 8600/250. It's an OldWorld system that I
have spent most of the last two days trying to get Linux on. The
farthest I got was the Debian installer attempting to configure the
network on DHCP. Packets were going out (I could see the requests on the
DHCP server) but nothing was coming back. Given the age of the machine
and the amount of hair I've pulled out, I'm guessing the best I can do
is find a dumpster for this thing. Does anyone have a recommendation on
that score, or be interested in parting the machine out?

The other is a PowerMac G4. This is all I know about it right now as the
video card has been removed. If anyone here has a video card that will
work in this device and wants to have some fun trying to get this one
going, do let me know. I imagine since it's a NewWorld machine it should
go quite a bit easier.

Thanks,
Kevin
