I have used it in the past for personal finances. The TriLUG Steering
Committee uses it also.

Quicken and Quickbooks force/guide you to do things in a particular
way. I found that GnuCash was more flexible, but you also get less
guidance on how to initially structure things.  In the GnuCash double
entry accounting system, you would create an account for Donations and
money would come out of that account and go into your bank account.  I
don't know about generating invoices or receipts.
