Well I have a plan B. The company I work for has been using TouchStone 3D,
located in Cary.

http://touchstone3d.com/

The hardware guy built his 2D model in AutoCAD and then their team looked
over his 2D CAD and converted it to an STL file. After about a week we had
a multi-piece stackable object.

Our object was about the size of a Redbull Can with 7 different parts for
about $1k and this includes the fact that their team needed to convert the
AutoCAD 2D print into the STL file.
