[TriLUG] CPU speed and custom kernel

Could it be some default setting changed so on one it thinks it is a laptop and one a server. 
Could a tuning profile get lost. 
Could a tuning config default have changed.

Sean,
Have you compared your kernel config file with the debian kernel's one ?
Are you building the cpufreq module for your cpu type ?
Have you poked around inside /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ ?
