Heh, no arguments from me on this front.  :-)  (Or should that be :-( 
for the assumption of network?)  Not to mention any of the security 
implications as console X sessions typically run as root (though perhaps 
somewhat mitigated if tunneled through ssh).  This was an academic 
question that I'm much obliged to y'all for answering so thoroughly.
