[TriLUG] OT: Inexpensive Wireless Headphones

Yeah, $100 is definitely out of my price range, as the wife is currently unemployed. $50 would be a stretch, but possibly doable. I'll check out what you suggested. I've found a few BT headsets that are in my price range, but they don't come with the USB transmitter, and are meant for connecting to phones and such, I guess.

You didn't quantify what you consider to be "affordable".  I wasn't really
expecting people to offer suggestions that were between $50 and $100, but
since that seems to be what we've drifted to discussing, I'll throw in my
two cents.  FWIW, I don't know of any cheaper alternatives unless you look
for a used version of some of these suggestions.

I used the first generation MotoRokr S9 headphones for >40 minutes almost
every day for >4 years, until they finally disintegrated.  I enjoyed it so
much, I promptly went out and bought the Motorokr S10-HD version, which you
can currently pick up from
NewEgg<http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZS0HZ4962&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-_-pla-_-All+Bluetooth+Headsets+%26+Accessories-_-9SIA0ZS0HZ4962&ef_id=UR5NSwAABQsbaYSI:20140106202300:s>for
~$65 (or
Amazon<http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-S10-HD-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B004BHCSQC>for
~$72).  I think I shopped around and got mine for $50.  I don't use
them quite as extensively, but I still carry them basically everywhere with
me.  The only downside compared to the S9 is that the plastic ear pieces
tend to fall off of the S10-HD.  Add a small dab of super-glue to the
inside of the cup when you first put it on, and you can be as rough as you
like with them.  I typically carry them looped through the carry handle on
top of my laptop bag.

Motorola's current version of this headset is the S11-HD and the
S11-Flex-HD<http://www.motorola.com/us/accessories-headphones-speakers/S11-HD-or-S11-Flex-HD-Wireless-Stereo-Headphones/m-S11-Combined.html>,
both of which are a bit bulkier than the older S9 and S10 styling.  If you
don't mind the slightly larger setup, Moto's currently running a sale for
~$70 for the slightly-less-adjustable base model.

Best of luck,
Aaron S. Joyner
