[TriLUG] VirtualBox Problems

I am running Debian 7, 64 bit on a Thnkpad T61 with 3.8 GB RAM.
I installed WinXP in VirtualBox. It was running fine but lately it starts up fine, gets to the Windows desktop and that's as far as I can go. Applications won't start.  Then I'll come back the next day, restart my laptop and VirtualBox works okay. Have no idea what's different from day to day.
Any thoughts?
