Message below seems to do the job, as well as using check boxes to not be asked again for individual programs.

But thanks for the point about contacting the "Windows" groups. I'll remember to use them preferentially. Some of the stuff on the web is just unbelievably complexified.

Disable UAC (User Account Control).  This should fix most/all of these
issues.

Easiest method is Start | Run | type 'msconfig' | Tools | Change UAC
Settings.  Take the slider to 'Never notify'.
