No, but the same could be said of using a human accountant as well. I’ve been using TurboTax for 8 years now, and three of those returns survived IRS audits, so I have more confidence in those results over a relatively unknown company that processes vastly smaller number of returns. > > On Wed, Mar 4, 2015 at 9:30 AM, Michael Czeiszperger via TriLUG > wrote: > I’d rather support a local company so gave these guys a try, but for some reason TurboTax was in my favor by $2,597 with the exact same information. Was it different deductions and credits or was it simply calculating things against the tables differently? Would you say your taxes are particularly complex? I am now curious to run mine through TT for comparison, though like I said, they're pretty simple. Do you know if there is an online try it and see? In my case, the refund numbers made qualitative sense. I had much less loan interest and this affected me a bit compared to last year. I also heard a lot of complaints about people now owing the State and previously having a refund. This makes sense in that we were warned about this happening with the rate changes and needed to recalculate the state withholdings. I kept mine the same and my refund was reduced, as expected. I tried to make both tax setups identical. This year’s taxes are simple: a Schedule A with a home loan and property taxes. I assumed the problem was pilot error, but couldn’t find what might be causing the difference and decided it was easier to stick with TurboTax. __________________________________________________________________________________________ "Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. I got an extra 100 gbs free for 2 years when I bought my chromebook on drive but to this day there is not an official sync application for google drive on linux. Meanwhile the dropbox client works very well. Up until recently there was a price difference but as of right now their 1 TB plans are both at around $10 a month. I will probably continue to use both but I was wondering if you were to put money towards a TB of drive storage to use across IOS devices, Android devices, Linux computers, and the occasional WIndows machine then what would you prefer and why. What I will be storing there, if it matters to the discussion: 1. quick sync folders for pictures taken with mobile devices 2. archive family pictures and video 3. audio files for which I own solely or with a group of others the copyright 4. video files which again I hold the copyright for. 5. Encrypted compressed archives of tax and fiscal records I will no matter the mass storage service probably continue to use google drive/docs for collaborative document editing.
